Mercury 2.0 by Tirsis
Length: 3 Chapters, Ongoing
Sources: Sailor Moon, Tron
Rating: 4.5/5
One thing which I think the world needs more of is Tron crossovers. I’ve always enjoyed seeing how various characters react to the discovery of the world inside a computer and, in some cases (such as Ranmatronic), how the Tron characters react to the realization that their view of things is wrong or incomplete. (In Ranmatronic, the MCP starts going insane because Ranma’s curse contradicts hard-coded rules)
Anyway, the basic premise of Mercury 2.0, is that, roughly 20 years after Tron (I believe it takes place during a game named Tron 2.0, but I’ve never played it) Mercury gets sucked into the computer being demonstrated at a trade show when a backdoor activates.
What makes this different from the other Tron crossovers I’ve seen is twofold. First, the senshi and the computer’s operator both saw it happen. Most Tron crossovers go with the “nobody actually saw it happen” plot point. Second, as a senshi, Mercury’s powers get translated into digital equivalents and she ends up meeting the security daemon (an athena-like figure named Mercury) from the mercury computer.
If Tron crossovers aren’t your cup of tea, you’ll probably want to skip this one, but it’s a well-written story with nary a grammatical error in sight and I highly enjoyed it.
