Wikipedia vs. Webcomics

For those who haven’t heard, it seems that Wikipedia has decided that webcomics aren’t an important enough part of culture to be in their encyclopedia.

As I strongly disagree, I have saved one article that hasn’t been deleted yet and I ask you to do the same. I’ve saved El Goonish Shive. (Gzip-compressed Konqueror WAR bundle)

UPDATE: Here are some posts on the Schlock Mercenary blog about the problem:

Oy… I’ve been through this before. The problem is that Wikipedia has been getting into the limelight as a potentially legitimate encyclopaedia replacement and therefore everyone’s going crazy about “significant information” and it’s compounded by the deletion process still being highly immature, relying on people only submitting “speedy deletes” for absolute trash like vanity pages. At one time, I would have argued that the proper way to go is to fight in a respectful and dignified manner, but I now just tell people to go to Comixpedia. I’m just too tired to fight anymore.

*wry grin* Congrats to the zealous editors who have won. They’ve managed to rid their encyclopaedia of “non-notables” and are free to rule over their sterile wasteland.

Sadly, I have yet to be disabused of the notion that an idealist like my current self can survive in this world of ours. 😛
