Originality Rating System for Fanfiction
I try to keep sub-ratings in line with the main rating system so I don’t think I’ll ever use the lowest originality rankings. Keep in mind that these are examples. There may be the odd occasion when none of them apply and I use different criteria.
Zero - Someone translated the manga/anime in script format and called it fanfiction
1 - Someone translated the manga/anime in prose format and called it fanfiction
2 - Complete lack of originality. See “Self-Insert Syndrome”
3 - Re-uses too much of the original story. Any new ideas are lost in the mess.
4 - May re-use to much of the original story but still has a new concept.
5 - Original setting but otherwise, a completely new concept. One-shot or short series.
5.5 - Original setting, completely new concept, long running story with lots of detail.
6 - Completely new setting. (not just a crossover with another story)
