Why Ads…?
In most circumstances, I hate ads. I have them on my blog because I can do so without compromising my principles and because they are part of an experiment to see if I can get my sites to pay for their own hosting. Nothing more and nothing less.
Now as for not compromising my principles, the following reasons apply:
- They aren’t pay-per-click, so click fraud isn’t a problem and I can ask you to take a look at anything I want.
- They aren’t pay-per-impression, so you and I can block them without feeling guilty if they do bother us.
- They are pay-per-day, so I don’t get ripped off like I might with the other two schemes.
- Animated ads are disabled, so they won’t draw your eyes every time something in them changes.
- They are small, so they won’t overwhelm the page content and throw off the color scheme.
- I can personally approve or refuse individual ads as I need to.
